Many of you participated in the Amenity Follow-Up survey in March and April: THANK YOU!
We’ve complied the results for your review and have highlighted a few high-level take-aways (and will be doing deeper analysis in the coming months):
- People want to have more reasons to walk, bike and take transit compared to driving: while 73% of respondents reporting daily driving today, only 28% would prefer to drive daily. The top cited factors preventing respondents from using their preferred mode were “destination too far away,” “lack of adequate sidewalks/bike lanes” and “safety concerns”
- Where do people want to ditch their cars? Overwhelmingly trails and food-related establishments are desired within a quick 10-minute walk or bike ride as opposed to a drive.
- Respondents also shared that the desirability of different home-types increases with access to their desirable amenities. The importance of location may seem obvious, but neighborhoods with the right amenities could attract Reno’s detached-single-family-home-loving population into denser housing types: attached single-family homes and mid-rise condos/apartments were the most popular alternatives, with over 50% of respondents finding the types desirable if “all” or “most” of their amenity preferences were met.
